Hishimonus pantanagarensis View in CoL sp. nov. Meshram
( Figs. 6–11 View FIGURES 1 – 15 & 24–31 View FIGURES 24 – 31 )
Head, pronotum and scutellum yellowish brown with green tinge, anterior area of pronotum more yellowish. Face lemon yellow with minute black spot on gena. Forewings creamy white with pale brown spots between veins, distal half of apical cells more darkly mottled; median spot well defined with pale brown margin. Legs in male pale ochraceous; in female, femora dark brown; bases of setae on tibiae in both sexes dark brown ( Figs. 24–26 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ).
Head including eyes 1.1x width of pronotum. Head broadly rounded in front, crown length 0.5x shorter than width between eyes. Face length 0.9x width of face; anterior margin of pronotum not extending beyond eyes, more or less parallel with eyes. Anteclypeus apically exceeding facial margin ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ). Frontoclypeus longer than wide; frontal suture, terminating laterad of ocelli. Ocelli near anterior margin, very close to eye, distance between eyes and ocelii 0.4x ocellar diameter. Antennae situated somewhat at level with the middle margin of eye in facial view ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ). Pronotum length 0.4x as long as wide and 0.9x length of scutellum. Forewings with claval veins joined by cross vein at midlength; inner subapical cell open basally, outer subapical cell elongate with ends transverse; appendix small ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ).
Male genitalia: Pygofer in lateral view longer than height, posterior margin broadly rounded, macrosetae confined to posterior half ( Figs. 9 View FIGURES 1 – 15 & 27 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ). Valve 1.8x as wide at base as long ( Figs. 10 View FIGURES 1 – 15 & 31 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ). Subgenital plates with terminal finger like process about 3.4x shorter than total length, long hairlike setae along lateral margin, terminal process with short microsetae ( Figs. 10 View FIGURES 1 – 15 & 31 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ). Style thrice as long as wide at base, subapical lobe well developed with a few hairlike setae, apophysis directed posteriorly ( Figs. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 15 & 28 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ). Connective with stem narrow and slightly shorter than arms. Aedeagus without basal processes to shafts, dorsal apodeme well developed; shafts divergent in posterior view and widened distally, in lateral view mesal anterior margin angled near base, with bifurcated process; shaft terminating into filamentous process in posterior view mesally and then anteriorly curved ( Figs. 6–7 View FIGURES 1 – 15 & 29–30 View FIGURES 24 – 31 ).
Measurements. Male 3.4–3.6 mm long, 1.1–1.2 mm wide across eyes.
Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♂, INDIA: Uttarakand: Pantnagar: FRI, 355 m, 28.9700° N, 79.4100° E, 22.vii.2014, at light, K. Sreedevi & Nidhi ( NPC). PARATYPE: 2 ♂ same data as on holotype.
Remarks. Hishimonus pantanagarensis sp.nov. closely resembles H. dividens Knight but differs in (characters H. dividens in parentheses): head, pronotum and scutellum yellowish brown with green tinge (head, pronotum, mesoscutum and scutellum creamy yellow with pale brown mottling); valve 1.5x as wide at base as long (valve about 2.5x as wide at base as long); aedeagus shaft with bifurcate preapical process (aedeagus shaft with preapical process unbranched).
