Cosmolestes aethiopicus (Stål, 1865) View in CoL
( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 )
Material examined: LIBERIA: Bong county, Bong mine tailings pond area, Dam 12, 6°46′N 10°18′W, 140 m, 29.iv.1989, hand-collected, leg. Rolf Garms (1 ♀) GoogleMaps ; Bong mine tailings pond area, Dam 1b/2b, 6°47′N 10°20′W, 165 m, 20.v.1989, hand-collected, leg. Rolf Garms (1 ♀) GoogleMaps .
Distribution: Liberia; Intertropical Africa.
Remark: The genus comprises 5 Afrotropical species, 3 of which were keyed by Villiers (1948). In addition, C. insignis Distant, 1903 from South Africa would couple with C. aethiopicus due to the black femora, but differing by lacking white spots on head and pronotum, while C. monticolus Miller, 1950 from Malawi would couple with C. pictus (Klug, 1830) , differing from C. aethiopicus in color pattern including legs and shape of scutellar apex ( Miller, 1950a).
