Diplazium hians Kunze ex Klotzsch, Linnaea View in CoL 20: 361. 1847.
Range: —Southern Mexico to Panama, Andes of Venezuela to northwestern Argentina; southeastern Brazil. In Bolivia, in BE, CH, CO, LP, SC, TA. Ecology: —Uncommon; terrestrial, occasionally epiphytic, in humid forests; 650–2600 m. Notes: —Most similar to Diplazium buchtienii and D. divergens . We here place D. lilloi (Hicken) R.M.Tryon & A.F.Tryon in synonymy of D. hians , but both species may have different basal petiole scales (retiform in D. hians , not so in D. lilloi ). This species group is in need of revision. Agamospory has been documented in this species ( Walker 1985).
