Material examined. 1 male. CHINA, Sichuan province, Nibashan Mountain , altitude 1700 m, 15-VI-2011, leg. Hai-ming Xu and Min Wang. 1 male. CHINA, Sichuan province, Erlang Mountain , 15-V-2004, leg. Guo-hua Huang and Min Wang ( SCAU) .
Identification notes. Wingspan about 43 mm. Forewing reddish purple with numerous white scales, orbicular and reniform stigma brownish black with white edge. Hindwing with a discal spot and terminal band discontinuous with the zigzag on the inner edge, anal angle with a big separated speckle.
Diagnosis. S. venusta can be distinguished from S. yunnana (Mell) by the following characters: forewing with white scales around orbicular and reniform stigma, apical and inner margin area purplish black; hindwing with a small discal spot, terminal band discontinuous, with a zigzag in the inner margin, anal angle with a separated speckle.
Distribution. China (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan), Japan, North Korea ( Chen 1999).
