Diagnosis: Adoral zone of membranelles continuous; several buccal cirri; frontoterminal cirri absent; transverse cirri present; one right and one left marginal row; three dorsal kineties, caudal cirri absent.
Dedication: We dedicate this new genus to our late eminent colleague, Prof. Dr John Clamp, in recognition of his great contributions to the taxonomy of ciliates and the education of young protistologists.
Type species: Clampia sinica sp. nov.
