Saccocera miangkabau sp. nov.

( Figs 7 View FIGURES 1 – 8 , 16 View FIGURES 15 – 17 )

Holotype. Ƥ “ Indonesia, Sumatra, Prov. S. Barat, Lembah Anai, SW von Padangpanjang, 25km S v. Bukit-Tingi, Urwaldtal / 400m, 25.8.74, Dr. Diehl leg.” (CAK, will be deposited in ZSM).

Etymology. This species is named after the native people of Western Sumatra, the Miangkabau .

Description (holotype, female, Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Alar expanse 27 mm, body 11.5 mm. Head: antenna simple, not serrate or ciliate, with short appressed scales; labial palpus upcurved, apical segment bent downwards, proboscis minute; ocellus large, prominent; vertex with yellow and black scales (largely rubbed off in type specimen). Thorax: brown; patagia dirty yellow laterally; tegulae with dirty yellow scapular spot; legs dark fuscous, tibiae of mid- and hindlegs with orange-yellow posterior and anterior edges, tarsi almost completely orange yellow. Forewing: dark brown, scattered with individual light brown to yellow scales, with narrow streak of deep yellow scales running from base to end of cell; ventral side similar, but with yellow streak more pronounced and wider; with additional short yellow streak posterior of cell. Hindwing: black, with large yellow area in centre; with smaller yellow patch closer to anal margin; fringe yellow, except from apex and anal margin; ventral side similar but yellow markings more extensive.

Genitalia. Female (AK660, Fig. 16 View FIGURES 15 – 17 ). As described for the genus. Triangular pouch relatively small; ductus and corpus bursae [ostium and antrum destroyed in type specimen].

Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. panaras sp. nov. (see above for details). Due to its size and extensive yellow marks on the hindwing it is also similar to some species of the genus Synechodes , including S. tamila sp. nov. S. sumatrana , and S. rotanicola Kallies, 2004 . It can be distinguished from all of them by the generic characters presented above.
