Type Locality: "Indiis;" restricted to Pernambuco, Brazil, by Hamlett (1939).

Vernacular Names: Seven-banded Armadillo.

Synonyms: Dasypus megalolepis (Cope 1889) ; Dasypus propalatum (Rhoads 1894) ; Dasypus megalolepe Yepes 1928 .

Distribution: Lower Amazon Basin of Brazil to the Gran Chaco of Bolivia, Paraguay, and N Argentina.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
