Remarks. Adults of this species were collected from littoral to agricultural zones on several islands, and have been reared from decaying vegetation. Specimens identified by Johnson (1924) as “ L. pusio ” may also be this species, but the material upon which this record was based has not been examined ( Wheeler & Forrest 2003). Johnson (1924) also reported that flies of this species were attracted to small skin abrasions.
