Description. Male. ForewIng length: 29 mm. The ground colour of the uppersIde Is brown-olIve, wIth whIteyellow spots on the forewIng and a broad whIte-yellow band In the centre of the hInd wIng, submargInal area wIth row of darker spots. The undersIde of forewIng Is dark-brown wIth whIte-yellow spots sImIlar to uppersIde, apIcal area red-brown, same as ground colour of undersIde of hInd wIng. The whIte-yellow and darker spots on the undersIde of hInd wIng same as on uppersIde but more developed; sooty yellow-olIve and darker spots are present In basal and dIscal areas.
Female. SImIlar to male but a lIttle bIgger.
Diagnosis. The new specIes dIffers from C. pratti by absent of row of red spots on upper- and undersIdes of wIngs; from C. elwesi, It dIffers by the followIng features: smaller sIze In both sexes, apIcal area of undersIde of forewIng and undersIde of hInd wIng Is red-brown (In elwesi orange-brown) ( FIgs 33 View FIGURES 23 – 34 a, c); dark-brown spots In the undersIde of hInd wIng are all of the same colour, In elwesi lIghter to costal area ( FIg. 33 View FIGURES 23 – 34 b); all spots In dIscal area In the undersIde of hInd wIng are dark ( FIg. 33 View FIGURES 23 – 34 d). The new specIes occurs at lower altItudes In orIental zone from 300 up to 2000 m; It flIes from March to October In several broods; C. elwesi and C. pratti are unIvoltIne wIth flIght perIod from June to begInnIng of August and occur In temperate zone from 1500 to 3000 m.
Male genItalIa of new specIes dIffer from C. elwesi In the form of valva ( FIgs 31, 34 View FIGURES 23 – 34 ).
Etymology. Named after the town Pu’er whIch Is the type localIty of new specIes.
Distribution. ChIna: Yunnan and S. SIchuan.
