Material examined. This species was recorded by visual census in all sampled sites. Vouchers also were collected in almost every site from the Islas Marietas, one male (ICMyL MAZ 9021) to the Huatulco region at El Maguey (15°43´N, 95°08´W), six males (ICMyL MAZ 9087A) and two females (ICMyL MAZ 9087B).

Remarks. Previous records from Mexican waters were made at the Loreto region by Hernández et al. (2009). Because this species is symbiotic to Pocillopora corals, this species has a wide distribution along the Indo-Pacific, Central America, and Galápagos Islands (Wicksten & Hendrickx 2003). Previous records in Mexican waters south of the Gulf of California were done by Hermoso (1999) at the Huatulco region. For our study, this species was recorded in all the sampled sites and confirms its presence throughout the Mexican Pacific coast.
