Asplenium bangii Hieron., Hedwigia View in CoL 60: 245. 1918.
Range:— Peru, Bolivia (BE, CH, LP, SC, TA); southeastern Brazil and adjacent Paraguay and Argentina.
Ecology:— Common; terrestrial, rarely epiphytic or on rocks, in humid and semihumid forests; (250)450– 2150(2600) m.
Notes:— Differs from A. harpeodes in having subentire to crenulate pinna margins (vs. deeply serrate), smaller pinnae (1.2–2.2(2.5) vs. 2.5–9 cm long), and shorter (1.5–3 vs. 4–10 mm long) rhizome scales with attenuate (vs. with long, tortuous, unicostate) tips. The occasional occurrence of intermediate specimens suggests hybridization with A. discrepans and perhaps also with A. claussenii .
