Type Locality: NE Mozambique, Mocímboa, 11°S on the coast. "Africa orientalis, Mossimboa, Quitangonha, a 11° ad 15° Lat. Austr." .
Vernacular Names: Striped Bush Squirrel.

Discussion: Commonly spelled flavivittis but this was an unjustified emendation by Peters (1852).
