Distribution: N and E Borneo : Brunei, E Sarawak, Sabah ( Malaysia), south to Karangan River in Kalimantan ( Indonesia).
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Vulnerable as P. h. sabana, Data Deficient as P. h. hosei , P. h. canicrus and P. h. everetti. Nominotypical hosei perhaps extinct.
Discussion: Separated from " aygula " (= comata ) by Medway (1970:544). Possibly canicrus and sabana are distinct species ( Groves, 2001 c).
