. Bruguière’s species was actually from the Tortonian Pliocene of Italy. Janssen et al. (2014) filed a petition with the ICZN, and it agreed to set aside an earlier lectotype designation of Bruguière’s species of a specimen from the Paris Basin and to designate a new neotype from Italy, thus preserving the Deshayes Paris Basin species name (ICZN Opinion 2394, 2017).
