Basionym: Omphalodes australis G.L.Nesom, Phytoneuron 2013 View in CoL -64 (2013: 19, figs 8, 9).
Holotype:— MEXICO. Puebla: Boca del Monte [ S side of Pico de Orizaba], moist, shaded mountain slopes, June 1907, C. A. Purpus 2498 ( UC101432 !, isotypes BM000885904 !, GH00219323 !, MO-451156). Type:— MEXICO. Puebla: Boca del Monte , August 1907, C. A. Purpus 5006 (paratype UC153438 !).
Note: The GH specimen was annotated in 2005 by R. R. Mill as “ Mimophytum australe ”, but the name has not been published.
