Allocladius longicrus (Kieffer) comb. n.

( Figs. 24 View FIGURE 24 , 25 View FIGURE 25 )

Camptocladius longicrus Kieffer, 1921: 100 .

Smittia (Pseudosmittia) longicrus (Kieffer) ; Goetghebuer 1943: 107.

Pseudosmittia longicrus (Kieffer) ; Strenzke 1950: 292.

Material examined: AUSTRIA: Lower Austria, Lunz, No. 13a, 1male, 1 female, 2 pupal exuviae, 30.iv–1.v.1941, K. Strenzke (GP665, 671–673)( NMS) .

Diagnostic characters: The absence of an anal point, relatively well developed pulvilli, low superior volsella, digitiform inferior volsella and long adpressed accessory lobe separate the male imago from other members of the group. The female imago can be separated from other known females of the group by having 52 non-marginal setae on the costa basally of the intersection by R 4+5 and an LR 1 of 0.53. The pupa is distinguished by having the anal segment with setae and 45–70 spinules on tergal conjunctive II/III.

Male imago (n = 1)

All measurements are within the range of variation of A. azoricus with the following exceptions: total length 2.76 mm; wing ( Fig. 24 A View FIGURE 24 ) length 1.46 mm; total length/wing length 1.90; wing length/length of profemur 3.00; AR 0.76; R 4+5 ends slightly proximal to the apex of M 3+4; Cu 1 only slightly curved; R without setae; 12 temporal setae; clypeus with 12 setae; stipes (Fig, 24 C) 137 µm long; palpomere lengths (in µm): 30, 50, 94, 94, 117. BR 3 7.6; anal point ( Fig. 24 E View FIGURE 24 ) absent; virga ( Fig. 24 D View FIGURE 24 ) 25 µm long; gonocoxite 206 µm long; superior volsella low but present, reaching 0.44 gonocoxite length; inferior volsella long, digitiform, adpressed, reaching to 0.84 gonocoxite length; gonostylus 73 µm long; HR 2.81; and HV 3.78.

Female imago (n = 1)

Total length 2.19 mm. Wing length 1.38 mm. Total length/ wing length 1.58. Wing length/length of profemur 3.34. Coloration blackish brown.

Head. AR 0.36. Length (in µm) of flagellomeres: 73, 55, 53, 53, 82. Flagellomeres ( Strenzke 1950, fig. 81) slightly flask-shaped. Temporal setae with inner verticals obscured, but 2 outer verticals and 5 postorbitals. Clypeus with about 8 setae. Tentorium 119 µm long, 25 µm wide. Stipes 126 µm long, 37 µm wide. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 27, 48, 78, 82, 121. Third palpomere with 4 lanceolate sensilla clavata. Coronal suture apparently absent (head broken).

Thorax. Median antepronotal lobes well developed, with 3 lateral antepronotal setae. Dorsocentrals 13, acrostichals 11, prealars 3, supraalar 1. Scutellum with 8 setae.

Wing ( Fig. 25 A View FIGURE 25 ). VR 1.53. Anal lobe slightly projecting. Costal extension 27 µm long. R 4+5 ending distal to apex of M 3+4; Cu 1 sinuate. Axillary sclerite with 1 seta, brachiolum with 1 seta, costa basally of R 1 with 10 non-marginal setae, with 42 non-marginal setae between R 1 and R 4+5, costal extension with 6 non-marginal setae, R with 11, R 1 with 9 and R 4+5 with 16 setae, other veins bare.

Legs. Spur of front tibia 32 µm long, spurs of middle tibia 21 µm and 18 µm long, of hind tibia 39 µm and 18 µm long. Width at apex of front tibia and middle tibia each 30–32 µm, of hind tibia 41µm. Number of setae in comb not measurable, but setae 21–34 µm long. Lengths and proportions of legs as in Table 13.

Genitalia. Gonocoxite apparently with 9 strong setae. Tergite IX probably divided (slide mounted in lateral view), with about 20 setae. Cercus 96 µm long. Apodeme against gonocoxite about 101 µm long. Seminal capsule pale, ovoid; 71 µm long, excluding 32 µm long neck, 59 µm wide, microtrichia not observed. Notum 71 µm long.

Pupa (n = 1–2)

Total length 3.42 mm. Exuviae tinged with brownish yellow, especially on margins of cephalothorax and anal segment.

Cephalothorax. Frontal apotome wrinkled, with a few anterior spinules, with distinct warts, with 41–45 µm long frontal setae. Largest cephalothoracic setae about 60 µm long. Distance between Dc 1 and Dc 2 66 µm, between Dc 2 and Dc 3 34 µm, between Dc 3 and Dc 4 13 µm.

Abdomen ( Figs. 25 B–D View FIGURE 25 ; Strenzke 1950, fig. 65).
