Hydrosmittia kisotriangulata (Sasa et Kondo) View in CoL comb. n.
( Fig. 36 A View FIGURE 36 )
Pseudosmittia kisotriangulata Sasa et Kondo, 1993: 101 View in CoL ; Yamamoto 2004: 89, Saether 2006: 33 View Cited Treatment .
Material examined: JAPAN: Honshu, Aichi Pref., Bisai, Kiso River , holotype, 21.xii.1989, S. Kondo (NMST, No. 222: 73) .
Diagnostic characters: The male imago differs from H. falsicostata by having an AR of about 2.0. Like H. falsicostata and H. ruttneri the inner verticals appear to be lacking. The very large size, the high antennal ratio and the strong virgal spines ( Fig. 34 A View FIGURE 34 ) will separate the species from all other Hydrosmittia .
The male is redescribed by Saether (2006: 33). Distribution and ecology
The species is known only from the type locality where it emerged from a bottom sample in the Kiso River. Like H. ruttneri and H. falsicostata , the species thus probably is truly aquatic.
