Material examined: FALKLAND ISLANDS (Malvinas): Beauchine Island , moss ( Bryum ), 5 larvae, 9–24 xii 1980, R. Lewis Smith ( BMNH) .
Some larvae from the Falkland Islands probably belonging in Allocladius are described in detail in Andersen et al. (2010). Although the larvae could belong in Hydrosmittia , we find it more likely that they belong in Allocladius since Hydrosmittia so far appear not to be present in the Neotropical region and we have found no generic differences separating all larvae of the two genera. It is not unlikely that these larvae represent the larva of A. bilobulatus or one of the other Neotropical species with a pars ventralis as also A. bothnicus has larvae deviating from the other known larvae of the genus.
