( Fig. 66 View FIGURE 66 )

Type material: Holotype male, GHANA: Accra , Legon , Botanical Garden, Malaise, 8–14.ii.1993, T. Andersen ( ZMBN Type No. 441).

Diagnostic characters: The male imago differs from the other members of the group by having anal lobe of wing weak, but not reduced; no inner tibial spur of mid leg; anal point triangular with conspicuous microtrichia to apex; weak inferior volsella with well developed accessory lobe, and having very strong pseudospurs.

Etymology: Referring to the type locality.

Male imago (n = 1)

Total length 1.45 mm. Wing length 0.75 mm. Total length/wing length 1.94. Wing length/length of profemur 2.62. Coloration brown.

Head ( Fig. 66 B View FIGURE 66 ). AR 0.88 Terminal flagellomere 225 µm long; no apical strong seta. Temporal setae 3 consisting of 2 outer verticals and 1 postorbital. Clypeus with 6 setae. Tentorium 90 µm long, 17 µm wide. Stipes not measurable. Palpomere lengths not measurable Third palpomere apparently with 2 scalpellate sensilla clavata, and without apical projection.

Thorax ( Fig. 66 C View FIGURE 66 ). Antepronotal lobes reduced medially, but apparently less so than in P. joaquimvenancioi , antepronotum with 2 lateral setae. Dorsocentrals 14, acrostichals 2, prealars 4. Scutellum with 4 setae.

Wing ( Fig. 66 A View FIGURE 66 ). VR 1.39. Postcubital fork not observed. Anal lobe weak. Costal extension 38 µm long. R 4+5 ending slightly proximal to apex of M 3+4; Cu 1 straight. Brachiolum with 1 seta, other veins bare.

Legs. Spur of front tibia 36 µm long, spur of middle tibia 15 µm long (one spur only), of hind tibia 38 µm and 23 µm long. Width at apex of front tibia 19 µm, of middle tibia 23 µm, of hind tibia 30 µm. Comb of 10 setae, shortest setae 23 µm long, longest setae 23 µm long. Lengths and proportions of legs as in Table 40.

Hypopygium ( Fig. 66 E View FIGURE 66 ). Anal point 9 µm long with strong microtrichia to apex; tergite IX with 5 setae, none on anal point; laterosternite IX with 3 setae. Phallapodeme 51 µm long; transverse sternapodeme 40 µm long, no oral projections. Virga ( Fig. 66 D View FIGURE 66 ) 58 µm long. Gonocoxite 102 µm long; superior volsella absent; inferior volsella and accessory lobe weak, but present and reaching to 0.63 and 0.83 gonocoxite length, respectively. Gonostylus 49 µm long, megaseta 8 µm long. HR 2.10, HV 2.95.
