( Fig. 68 G–J View FIGURE 68 )
Orthosmittia reyei Freeman, 1961: 671 View in CoL .
Smittia reyei (Freeman) Cranston & Martin, 1989: 263 View in CoL .
Material examined: AUSTRALIA: Queensland, Woody Island , holotype male, 10.ix.1953, E. J. Reye ( CSIRO) .
Diagnostic characters: The large accessory lobe of the long and narrow inferior volsella overlying the gonocoxite and not hidden by the volsella will separate the male imago from other species of the group.
Male imago (n = 1)
The holotype male lacks wing, legs, palps and antennae.
Head ( Fig. 68 G View FIGURE 68 ). AR according to Freeman (1961) about 1.0. Temporal setae 7, consisting of 3 inner verticals and 4 outer verticals; no postorbitals. Clypeus with 7 setae. Tentorium 94 µm long, 18 µm wide. Cibarial pump and stipes as in Fig. 68 H View FIGURE 68 . Stipes 82 µm long.
Thorax. Antepronotal lobes reduced medially, antepronotum with 1 lateral setae. Dorsocentrals 18, acrostichals 2, prealars 3, and no supraalar seta. Scutellum with 6 setae.
Wing ( Freeman 1961 fig. 16d). According to Freeman (1961) R 4+5 ending far proximal to apex of M 3+4; Cu 1 straight, postcubitus forked, costa barely extended, anal lobe reduced.
Legs. LR 1 according to Freeman (1961) about 0.50.
Hypopygium ( Fig. 68 J View FIGURE 68 ; Freeman 1961 fig. 16h). Anal point 41 µm long, with about 16 lateral setae and microtrichia to apex; laterosternite IX with 4 setae. Phallapodeme 57 µm long; transverse sternapodeme 41 µm long, no oral projections. Virga ( Fig. 68 I View FIGURE 68 ) 27 µm long. Gonocoxite 135 µm long; inferior volsella long and reaching to 0.86 gonocoxite length, with distinct accessory lobe overlying gonocoxite. Gonostylus 50 µm long; megaseta 11 µm long. HR 2.68.
