Diagnostic characters: The male imago can be separated from the other members of the group by lacking an apical antennal seta, an AR of about 0.6, and 10–14 dorsocentrals. The female imago is characterized by an AR of 0.32–0.37, 5 sensilla clavata at the apex of third palpomere and 8 dorsocentrals.
Male imago (n = 3–4, except when otherwise stated)
Total length 1.27–1.35, 1.32 mm. Wing length 0.68–0.75, 0.73 mm. Total length/wing length 1.78–1.86, 1.82. Wing length/length of profemur 2.53–2.61, 2.57. Coloration dark brown.
Head ( Fig. 74 D View FIGURE 74 ). AR 0.62–0.64. Terminal flagellomere 1.71–1.78 µm long, no apical strong seta. Temporal setae 5–6, 5, consisting of 2–3, 2 inner verticals, and 3–4, 3 outer verticals, no postorbitals. Clypeus with 6–9 setae. Tentorium 89–94, 91 µm long, 18–23, 21 µm wide. Stipes not measurable. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 18–21, 20; 25–32, 28; 43–46; 50–53; 75–90. Third palpomere with 2 sensilla clavata.
Thorax. Antepronotal lobes reduced medially, antepronotal lateral setae not observable. Dorsocentrals 10–14, 13, acrostichals 2, prealars 3–4, 3; no supraalar seta. Scutellum with 5–6, 6 setae.
Wing ( Fig. 74 C View FIGURE 74 ; Saether 2004 fig. 29). VR 1.66–1.74, 1.70. VR 2 1.25–1.39, 1.34. Anal lobe weak. Costal extension 11–16 µm long. R 4+5 ending well proximal to apex of M 3+4; Cu 1 slightly curved. Brachiolum with 1 seta, other veins bare.
Legs. Spur of front tibia 25–41, 35 µm long, of middle tibia 21–27 µm long (only one present), spurs of hind tibia 27–41 µm and 1–23 µm long. Width at apex of front tibia 18–22, 19 µm, of middle tibia 21–24 µm, of hind tibia 27–32 µm. Comb of 11–12 setae, 18–37 µm long. Lengths and proportions of legs as in Table 45.
Hypopygium ( Fig. 74 F, G View FIGURE 74 ; Tokunaga 1964 fig. 6f; Saether 2004 fig. 30). Anal point 30–43, 35 µm long, triangular and without apical projection; tergite IX (including anal point) with 10–12 (2) setae; laterosternite IX with 4–5, 4 setae. Phallapodeme 48–62 µm long; transverse sternapodeme 37–43 µm long, no oral projections. Virga ( Fig. 74 E View FIGURE 74 ) 17–25 µm long. Gonocoxite 110–126, 116 µm long; inferior volsella long, reaching to 0.84–0.91, 0.87 gonocoxite length. Gonostylus 65–71, 69 µm long, attenuate; megaseta 5–7, 6 µm long. HR 1.67–1.77, 1.70, HV 1.86–1.96, 1.93.
Female imago (n = 1–2)
Total length 1.08–1.34. Wing length 0.59–0.63. Total length/wing length 1.85–2.11. Wing length/length of profemur 3.07. Coloration yellow with dark brown vittae and markings.
Head. AR 0.32–0.37. Flagellomere lengths (in µm): 48–57, 34–43, 37–41, 37–43, 55–59. Apical seta 32 µm long. Temporal setae 5–6, consisting of 2 inner verticals, and 3–4 outer verticals, no postorbitals. Clypeus with 6–8 setae. Tentorium 85 µm long, 7 µm wide. Stipes 69–78 µm long. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 18–21, 23–25, 43–45, 53–57, 66–69. Third palpomere with 5 sensilla clavata. Coronal suture absent.
Thorax. Median antepronotal lobes reduced, antepronotum with 2 lateral setae. Dorsocentrals 8, acrostichals 2, prealars 3–4. Scutellum with 4–6 setae.
Wing. VR 1.70–1.76. VR 2 1.30. Anal lobe weak, costal extension 69–80 µm long. R 4+5 ending proximal to apex of M 3+4; Cu 1 straight. Brachiolum with 1seta, costa between FR and apex of R 4+5 with 19–21 non-marginal setae, costal extension with 3–7 non-marginal setae, R with 5–8 setae, R 1 with 1–2, R 4+5 with 5–10, setae, other veins bare.
Legs. Spur of front tibia 23–25 µm long, spur of middle tibia 24–25 µm long (only 1 present), of hind tibia 34 µm and 21 µm long. Width at apex of front and middle tibiae each 18–21µm, of hind tibia 26–31 µm. Comb of 11– 12 setae, 21–34 µm long. Lengths and proportions of legs as in Table 46.
Abdomen. Tergite I bare, T II–VII each with 8–10 setae, T VIII with 16 setae. Sternites I and II bare, S III–V each with 2–4 setae, S VI and VII each with 7, S VIII with 25 setae.
Genitalia. Gonocoxite with 2–3 strong and 2 weak setae. Tergite IX divided with altogether about 6 setae. Cercus 48 µm long. Seminal capsule 64–73 µm long, 41–50 µm wide, ovoid, dark. Notum 55–57 µm long.
Pupa and larva
Unknown.
Distribution
The species is known from Palau, the Marshall Islands, the Seychelles and the Jiangshi Province in China.
