Material examined: NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS: Saipan, Lake Susuge , 1 male, i.1949, K. L. Machler ( BBM) ; Saipan, Chalen , light trap, 2 females, mislabeled as P. micronesiana , i.1949, K. L. Machler ( BBM) ; Saipan, Lake Hagoi , 2 males, 10.vi.1946, H. K. Townes ( BBM) ; GUAM: Mt. Lamborn , 2 males, x.1952, N. H. L. Krauss ( BBM) .
Diagnostic characters: The male imago is readily identifiable by having a single spine at the apex of the third palpomere and about 5 subapical lanceolate sensilla clavata, tongue-shaped inferior volsella, anal point without setae and no postcubital fork. The female has a relatively broad gonocoxite without caudal extension, postcubital fork, long costal extension, third palpomere with apical spine and 4–5 lanceolate sensilla clavata.
Male imago (n = 3–5, except when otherwise stated)
Total length 1.62–1.87, 1.74 mm. Wing length 0.82–1.03, 0.92 mm. Total length/wing length 1.82–2.01, 1.90. Wing length/length of profemur 2.73–2.94, 2.81. Coloration brownish black.
Head. AR 0.98–1.10, 1.04. Terminal flagellomere (Tokunaga 1946, fig. 5e) 265–317, 292 µm long. Temporal setae 3–6, consisting of 2 inner verticals, and 3–4 outer verticals, no postorbitals. Clypeus with 8–10, 9 setae. Tentorium 94–110 µm long, 24–30 µm wide. Stipes 82–91 µm long, 30 µm (1) wide. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 21–25, 27–32, 53–62, 46–58, 82–87. Third palpomere with apical spine and about 5 lanceolate sensilla clavata.
Thorax. Antepronotal lobes reduced medially, antepronotum with lateral setae not measurable. Dorsocentrals 12–16, 15, acrostichals 2, prealars 4–5, 4, and no supraalar seta. Scutellum with 6–10 setae.
Wing ( Fig. 85 A View FIGURE 85 ; Tokunaga 1964, fig. 5 l). VR 1.51–1.66, 1.61. Postcubitus not forked. Anal lobe weak. Costal extension 46–69, 55 µm long. R 4+5 ending proximal to apex of M 3+4; Cu 1 straight. Brachiolum with 1 seta, other veins bare.
Legs. Spur of front tibia 46–57, 50 µm long, spurs of middle tibia 32 µm (1) and 18 µm (1) long, of hind tibia 46–55, 50 µm and 27–30 µm long. Width at apex of front and middle tibiae each 18–23, 21 µm, of hind tibia 34–37 µm. Comb of 12–13 setae, 24–46 µm long Lengths and proportions of legs as in Table 56.Hypopygium ( Fig. 85 B View FIGURE 85 ). Anal point 30–46, 35 µm long, without setae; tergite IX with 10–12 setae; laterosternite IX with 3 setae. Phallapodeme 55–66 µm long; transverse sternapodeme 40–57 µm long, no oral projections. Virga / Fig. 85 C View FIGURE 85 ) 27 µm (2) long. Gonocoxite 126–142, 134 µm long; superior volsella not developed, inferior volsella tongue-shaped and reaching to 0.69–0.76, 0.73 gonocoxite length. Gonostylus 57–64, 60 µm long; megaseta 71 µm long. HR 2.19–2.34, 2.24, HV 2.75–3.16, 2.92.
Female imago (n = 1–2)
Total length 1.71 mm. Wing length 0.69–0.73 mm. Total length/wing length 2.35–2.47. Wing length/length of profemur 2.48–2.61. Coloration pale yellowish brown with darker vittae and mid leg.
Head. AR 0.43–0.46. Flagellomere lengths (in µm): 48–50, 37, 38–41, 38–39, 50–69. Apical seta 25 µm long. Temporal setae 6, consisting of 2 inner verticals and 4 outer verticals, no postorbitals. Clypeus with 11–13 setae. Tentorium 85–101 µm long, 11–14 µm wide. Stipes 91–96 µm long, 23–27 µm wide. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 23–25, 27–30, 54–59, 54–59, 82. Third palpomere with apical bristle-like spine (more bent than in male) and 4–5 preapical lanceolate sensilla clavata. Coronal suture 46 µm long.
Thorax. Antepronotal lobes reduced medially, antepronotum with 2 lateral setae. Dorsocentrals 15–17, acrostichals 2, prealars 4–5, and no supraalar seta. Scutellum with 6–8 setae.
Wing. VR 1.57–1.74. VR 2 1.29. Anal lobe weak. Costal extension 91–96 µm long. R 4+5 ending proximal to apex of M; Cu 1 straight. Brachiolum with 1 seta. Costa proximal of FR with 4–6 non-marginal setae, between FR and apex of R 4+5 with 20–23 non-marginal setae, costal extension with 11–12 non-marginal setae. R with 6–7 setae, R 1 with 1–2, and R 4+5 with 10 setae. Other veins bare.

Legs. Spur of front tibia 27–30 µm long, spurs of middle tibia 27 µm and 16 µm long, of hind tibia 41 µm and 21–24 µm long. Width at apex of front and middle tibia each 24–30 µm, of hind tibia 32–35 µm. Comb of 11–12 setae, 21–34 µm long. Lengths and proportions of legs as in Table 57.
Abdomen. Tergite I bare; T II–VIII each with 10–14, 12 setae. Sternite I and II bare, S III with 4, S IV and V each with 7–9 setae, S VI with 13–16, S VII with 9–13 and S VIII with 30–32 setae.
Genitalia. Gonocoxite IX without caudal projection, relatively broad, with 2–3 strong and 3 weak setae. Tergite IX divided, with altogether 8–10 setae, apodeme against gonocoxite 66–69 µm long. Ventrolateral lobe with conspicuously long and straight apical setae. Cercus 46–62 µm long. Seminal capsules ovoid, dark, 50 µm long, 37 µm wide. Notum 59 µm long.

Distribution
This species is known from Guam, Palau and the Northern Marianas Islands.
