Sagina subulata d’Urville (1825: 51 ‒ 52) ≡ Colobanthus subulatus (d’Urv.) Hooker (1844: 13) .

Typification:— There are two specimens of this species collected by J. S. C.D. d’Urville on Soledad Island present at P ( P 00156971, and P 00156972). Although the date of collection is not explicitly indicated the plants unambiguously stem from D´Urvilles 1822 ‒ 23 expedition since there is no evidence that he has collected on these islands a second time (see Stafleu & Cowan 1976: 697 ‒ 698). Both sheets comprise the original material with P 00156971 bearing d´Urville´s original label. P 00156972 simply represents a duplicate/fragment of the former and has a label added later and written in a different hand. P 00156971 was numbered “ 104 ” corresponding to the species´number in Flore des Îles Malouines ( d’Urville 1825: 51) and the name “ Sagina subulata Nob. ”. Since in the protologue no type was cited a lectotype needs to be selected from the original material (Art. 9.3 ICN; McNeill et al. 2012). Of this, the specimen P 00156971 has both the label and the annotations in D´Urville´s hand and also represents the richer collection. Consequently, it is selected as lectotype for Sagina subulata d´Urv. here.
