Ochrotrichia taunay , new species

Diagnosis. The new species belongs to the O. aldama Group of Flint (1972), as discussed in the O. sagitta sp. nov. diagnosis. Ochrotrichia taunay sp. nov. is more similar to O. caatinga by tergum X longitudinally divided into two sclerotized processes, with the left process wider than the right process. The new species can be distinguished from other species of the O. aldama Group by the presence of two basal sclerotized spine-like projections on tergum X, by the mesoventral margins of the inferior appendages densely covered by peg-like setae, and by the phallus with two small subapical sclerotized lateral protuberances.
Description. Male. General color uniform brown (in alcohol). Body length from tip of head to ends of folded wings: 3.0 mm; length of each forewing: 2.3 mm (holotype male). Tibial spur formula 1,3,4. Wing venation typical for genus. Metascutellum subpentagonal. Abdomen without visible modifications.
Male genitalia. Segment IX in lateral view subpentagonal, ventral margin longer than dorsal margin, posterior margin slightly produced at midheight ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ); in dorsal and ventral views dorsum and venter IX subrectangular, longer than wide ( Figs. 3B, 3C View FIGURE 3 ). Tergum X with two darkly sclerotized spine-like projections basodorsally: mesal projection shorter, right projection twice as long as mesal projection and curved slightly mesad; body of tergum divided longitudinally into two asymmetrical sclerotized processes: right process curved slightly laterad apically; left process larger and longer than right process, wider at base, tapering to apex from apical third, its apex subacute, strongly curved laterad ( Figs. 3A, 3B View FIGURE 3 ). Inferior appendages in lateral view setose, oblong, very long, constricted at base, wider medially, rounded apically ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ); in dorsal and ventral views slightly tapering to apex, distal 2/3 of mesal surfaces with many dark, peg-like setae ( Figs. 3B, 3C View FIGURE 3 ). Phallus tubular, long, basal half much thicker; ejaculatory duct not protruding apically, apex acute, subapically with two small, sclerotized, rounded, lateral protuberances, one on each side, and less-sclerotized protuberance on right side ( Fig. 3D View FIGURE 3 ).

Etymology. The specific epithet, taunay , refers to the Cascatinha Taunay, the type locality.
