Remarks. Andrena oralis was listed as present in Italy by Comba (2019) [species 162] based on Nobile & Tomarchio (2002) who reported the species from Sicily, specifically from Mount Etna (12 May 1972) and the Nebrodi mountain range (25 May 1981). Andrena oralis had not been previously reported from Italy, with a western limit in the Pannonian Basin and mainland Greece ( Gusenleitner & Schwarz 2002). Examination of museum and new material confirms the historical presence of A. oralis in Sicily, and also its presence in the province of Lecce, suggesting the possibility of gene flow between southern Italian and Balkan populations of this species.

The type material of A. oralis and A. sogdiana was recently illustrated by Astafurova et al. (2022), including lectotype designation. Gusenleitner & Schwarz (2002) note that the location of the synonymous A. sisymbrii is unclear, listing three possible type depositories; inspection of material at the SMFD produced two syntypes, one of which is here designated as a lectotype ( Fig. 5 ) in order to maintain the synonymy with A. oralis .
