Eudocima cocalus and E. hypermnestra doubtfully represent separate species as discussed above. Eudocima cocalus lacks paired black medial spots on the hindwing which are present in E. hypermnestra . Eudocima cocalus has a less dentate inner margin of the dorsal hindwing marginal band relative to E. hypermnestra . Eudocima cocalus is widely distributed from the Sunda Islands and the Philippines east to New Guinea, Australia and the Solomon Islands ( Zilli et al. 2017).
