Taxonomic remarks. Attems (1930) had synonymized it with Trachycormocephalus ocidentalis Attems, 1909 but the latter name became a junior secondary homonym of S. occidentalis L., 1758 when Khanna & Yadav (1997) transferred it to Scolopendra . Lewis et al. (2006) changed the name to S. lutea ( Attems, 1928) to resolve the issue.

Lewis et al. (2010) commented on the odd distribution pattern that resulted from this synonymy because the original specimen for S. lutea View in CoL is from Namibia ( Attems, 1909) and not India. Their assessment is based on the lack of morphological differences in Attems’s descriptions (1909, 1928) but the synonymy is questionable.

Additional remarks. The specimens came from the collections of the Overseas Museum in Bremen (Übersee- Museum Bremen).

Current systematic position. Scolopendra lutea ( Attems, 1928) View in CoL : transferred by Lewis et al. (2006: 36).
