Old type catalogue. Weidner (1960), p. 64, No. 39. Syntypes (number not specified).
Type status. 4 microscope slides are held at the ZMH (note on file card: “4 Präp., Lectotypen, ohne Fundort [no locality data], Crabill rev. et präp”.). All available specimens are syntypes .
Additional type material. There are 4 additional syntypes (coll. W. Michaelsen) at the NHMW: 2♀♀ from Chile, Ile Navarino , Puerto Toro , wood, 19.12.1892 (no. 7073) & 1♂, 1♀ from Argentina, Ushuaia, 30.10.1892 (no. 7074). Ilie et al. (2009) noted: “One slide, labelled ‘Geophilide Magelhaens Michaelsen’, contains antennae, labrum, Md, Mx, forcipulae, apparently the ones used to draw the text figures of the publication”. It is possible that the type specimens represent multiple species .
Collection remarks. All specimens were collected by Wilhelm Michaelsen during his expedition to the southern tip of South America 1892–93. The specimens from Agua fresca, Puerto Bridges and Puerto Toro were collected in forest (“ Wald ”) and those from west of Cape San Pio under stones (“ unter Steinen ”). The specimen from Port Stanley was found under cow dung (“ unter Kuhmist ”).
Current systematic position. Junior synonym of Schendyloides alacer ( Pocock, 1891) View in CoL according to Crabill (1964: 35).
