Type locality and specimens. Südliche Vereinigte Staaten [Southern United States] (Georgia, Alabama, New-Orleans, Kansas, Texas, Arizona), Mexiko . Vielleicht auch verschleppt Brasilien [Perhaps also introduced to Brazil] .

Dimensions. Länge bis [length up to] 210 mm.

Type material. Syntypes 3♀ ( ZMH-A0000634 , ZMH-A0009364-9365 ). U.S. A: Arizona [ca. 34°17’N, 111°39’W] GoogleMaps .

Preservation. 1 jar: Label 1. Scolopendra [cf] heros . Gir. var. arizonensis Krp Typus Rodenburg. Arizona. (Kraepelin handwriting); Label 2. LECTOTYPE | ♀ | c. 147 mm long Scolopendra heros arizonensis Kraepelin − Desig.: 9. V.60: R. Crabill, Hamburg (Crabill handwriting); Label 3. Old type catalogue. Rack (1974), p. 108, No. 90. syntypes 3 ♀. Taxonomic remarks. Rack (1974: 108) noted that R.E. Crabill revised the species and chose a lectotype but it appears that this work has never been published. Weidner (1960) missed the syntypes and Shelley (2002: 29) missed Rack’s catalogue that lists the syntypes. Current systematic position. Junior synonym of Scolopendra heros (Girard, 1853) according to Shelley (2002: 28).
