( Figs 44 – 45 View FIGURES 44 – 45 )
Type specimens. Holotype, F, AUSTRALIA: Queensland: Atherton Tableland, Curtain Fig, 6.iv.1995, D. E. Walter (S74166). Paratypes, Atherton Tableland: F, 2 M, same data as holotype (S74167-69); F, 3 M, Gadgarra, 7.iv.1995, D. E. Walter ( S74170 View Materials -73); F, Road to Mt Bartle-Frere, 28.i.1996, O. Seeman ( S74174 View Materials ). All from passalid M. australasicus and deposited in QM. M, F, same data as holotype, deposited in ANIC.
Diagnosis. Both sexes: idiosoma 755–770 long; anterior hyaline projection does not extend past CxI; exopodal patterning between CxII–III striped; pedofossae III present, IV absent; seta h1 with 6–8 barbs; distal spine-like process on palp femur minute or absent; one non-filamentous excrescence ribbon-like, the other a short serrated blade. Female: sternal shield reticulated; seta st 1 10–11, much shorter than base of tritosternum; setae st2-4 4–7 long; sternogynial shield smooth, anterior margin straight; femur III and IV with large lamellae. Male: tetartosternum absent, presternal processes articulated with sternoventral shield, asymmetrical, the left process pointed inwards and shorter than the right, tips separate from each other; sternoventral shield (anterior of genital opening) reticulated; seta st 1 18–20 long; genital opening placed between CxII–III, flanked by 9–10 pores.
Description. Female: Idiosoma 755–770 long, 545–560 wide, anterior hyaline projection with 1 pair of barbed setae 44–45 long. Marginal setae 7–8 long. Tritosternum base 42–44 long, 27–32 wide. Tetartosternum and sternal shield reticulate, tetartosternum relatively large, crown-shaped; st 1 10–11 long, st2-4 4–7 long. Sternogynial shield 100–103 long, 103–109 wide, smooth, with 3–4 pores flanking shield. Ventral shield smooth-finely reticulate medially and in intercoxal region, lineate-reticulate laterally; 1 pair large semi-circular pores posteromedially of Cx IV, 1 pair of eye-like pores, ca. 5 pairs of small round pores, and 8 pairs of small (<5 long setae). Ventrianal shield 135–140 long, 345–365 wide, with lineate reticulation, paranal setae 41–44 long, other setae small (ca. 5) long; anterolateral corner of ventrianal shield not fused with ventral shield. Marginal shields with lineate reticulation. Pedofossae III and CxIV-marginal suture present.
Legs. TrI with seta pv1 slightly thicker than seta av1. FeI with seta pv3 longer and thicker than setae pv1 and pv2. FeII with ventral lamella, seta ad1 barbed and thickened. GeII with seta ad3 spine-like, pd3 short, slightly thickened. FeIII with lamella, expanded distal to av1, seta pv1 spine-like. GeIII with seta pd2 spinelike. FeIV with lamella, expanded distal to av1, seta pv1 thick, spine-like, seta ad2 setiform, seta pd 2 in line with seta ad2. TaII–IV with seta av2 spine-like, shorter than seta av3. Legs II–IV with setiform ad and pd setae.
Gnathosoma . Seta h1 curved, with 6–8 barbs, 56–60 long, distance between h1–h1 10; h2 with 2–3 barbs, 35–36 long; h3 6–8 long, posterolaterad h2; palpcoxal seta 11–14 long. Corniculi not on tubercles. Palp, seta av1 on trochanter with 13–15 barbs, 42 long; av2 with 5 small barbs, 41–44 long. Chelicera, fixed digit 145– 150 long, movable digit 42–44 long; fixed digit with 2 large and 1 minute subapical tooth; excrescences consist of a large brush-like process, a small serrated blade, and a ribbon-like process with a crenate and serrated margin that extends well beyond the end of chelicerae.
Male: Idiosoma 745–780 long, 530–550 wide. Tritosternum base broad, 50–58 long, 54–60 wide, lateral margins with tiny serrations. Presternal processes asymmetrical, left process pointed and smaller than the right, truncate process; both processes broadly connected to sternal shield and pointing inwards. Anterior of male genital opening reticulate. Seta st1 smooth, 18–20 long. Genital opening 49–51 long, 52–54 wide, with 9–10 large pores laterad the opening. Large lamellae on Cx I. Seta h1 with 4 barbs, 56–59 long; h3 posterolaterad h1 but anterior h2. Palpcoxal seta 20–22 long.
Remarks. This species occurs in northern Queensland on M. australasicus .
Etymology. The specific name is Latin for “uneven chin” and alludes to the asymmetrical presternal processes of the male.
