Type Locality: Perú, Junín Dept., 22 km (by road) N La Oroya (at junction of Hwy 3 to Junín and Hwy 20 to Tarma), 4040 m.
Vernacular Names: Junin Akodont.
Distribution: E and W Andean slopes, above 2700 m, of C Perú, south along W slopes to Dept. Ayacucho.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Akodon , A. boliviensis species group ( Myers et al., 1990).
