Distribution: N Burma, China (Sichuan, Xizang, Yunnan. Recently extinct, or absent in Guizhou, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Qinghai; see Wei, et al., 1999), Nepal, Sikkim ( India).

Conservation: CITES – Appendix I; IUCN – Endangered.

Discussion: Reviewed by Roberts and Gittleman (1984). Synonyms allocated according to Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1951).
