Genus Filipjevia Kreis, 1928 View in CoL
The genus Filipjevia was described by Kreis (1928) with the original description of Filipjevia macrolabiatus Kreis, 1928 . This species is characterized by having two large bean-shaped cells on each side at the end of the intestine, but the function of this structure is still unknown. Another three species may appear in the literature ( Filipjevia mediterranea Schuurmans Stekhoven, 1950 , Filipjevia meridionalis Kreis, 1932 and Filipjevia parameridionalis Vitiello, 1970 ) as belonging to this genus due to the mispelled genus name. However, these species belong to the genus Filipjeva Ditlevsen (1928) , family Xyalidae , class Chromadorea.
Diagnosis from Smol et al. (2014): Lips high, all anterior sensilla setose. Mandibles solid with posterior apophyses and with teeth. Dorsal tooth reduced. Two large ventrosublateral teeth not surpassing the mandibles. Marine.
