Genus Cryptenoplus Riemann, 1966 View in CoL
The monospecific genus Cryptenoplus was erected by Riemann (1966) with the original description of Cryptenoplus gerlachi Riemann, 1966 , which was subsequently allocated in Oxyonchinae De Conninck, 1965 (Hope & Murphy, 1967), but transferred to Enoplolaiminae by Gerlach and Rieman (1974). This genus is similar to Trileptium due to the forward teeth, but the occurrence of high lips and differentiated mandibles, which are surrounded by arched supporting structures on its posterior part in Cryptenoplus , differentiates it from Trileptium . It is also similar to Parasaveljevia except for the three-ray symmetry of the mandibular apparatus and the absence of a tooth projecting freely into the lumen of Cryptenoplus ( Riemann 1966) .
Diagnosis from Smol et al. (2014): Three high, striated lips. Mandibles consisting of two strongly sclerotized lateral rods with claws anteriorly and a weakly sclerotized partly situated interlabial. Teeth modified into narrow arch-shaped, tooth-like structures that rise above the mandibles. Subcephalic setae present. Marine.
