Genus Parenoplus Filipjev, 1927 View in CoL
The genus Parenoplus was established by Filipjev (1927) with the description of Parenoplus edentatus Filipjev, 1927 based on a single female. Later, Parenoplus serratus Wieser, 1953 was described and this author suggested that Enoplolaimus philippinensis Allgén, 1951 may belong to this genus, but certainty it was not possible, as its original description, figure and description were insufficient to be assertive. As the original description of P. edentatus was based on a single female, we consider it as a species inquirenda and P. serratus is here designated as type species.
Diagnosis modified from Smol et al. (2014): Lips high and plicate. Inner and outer labial and cephalic sensilla setiform. Cephalic capsule short. Marine.
Number of valid species: 1
1. Parenoplus serratus Wieser, 1953 ( Chile, Golfo de Ancud )— type species
