Notes:—In the protologue, Barbosa Rodrigues (1877) designated Regnell III.1158, collected in the municipality of Cajuru, state of São Paulo, Brazil, as the type of Pogonia monantha . In our search for type specimens, we found the holotype of P. monantha in the herbarium of Swedish Museum of Natural History (S). This specimen was used to prepare the illustration by Barbosa Rodrigues in Iconographie des orchideés du Brésil 1: t. 40, which is deposited in the Library of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, cited as “Tab. 453” in Barbosa Rodrigues (1877: 167) and copied and reproduced by Sprunger et al. (1996: 93).
