Remarks. Eumenes crimensis Blüthgen, 1938 was synonymized with this species by van Achterberg et al. (2023). We do not follow such a treatment because, in our opinion, the identity of E. crimensis is not so clear. It was described from the Crimea (“Jalta” [= Yalta]) and had an extensive yellow pattern on both the body and the legs (the male paratype was examined, see Fateryga 2018) while all specimens of E. sareptanus from the Crimea had whitish pattern on the body and ferruginous on the legs. As was showed by Fateryga (2018), E. crimensis from Central Asia has the aedeagus different from that of E. sareptanus . Thus, the male paratype of E. crimensis should be designated as the neotype and its genitalia should be examined and compared with those of the typical E. sareptanus . So far, no further records of E. crimensis were made from the Crimea (and Europe as a whole), it is also possible that its type series was mislabeled and actually collected elsewhere.
