Colyphus guatemalensis (Gorham) , n. comb.
Clerus guatemalensis Gorham, 1882:157 . Type locality: Guatemala, Sinanja Valley. — Corporaal, 1950:152 (as Enoclerus guatemalensis ).
New country record: MEXICO, Oaxaca, Hwy. 175, 16 mi. S Valle Nacional, 4700', 30 May, 1983, C. & L. O'Brien & G. B. Marshall (Specimen in JNRC).
This species is very similar to Colyphus irazu Ekis , from Costa Rica, Guatemala and Honduras. Gorham's species, however, bears a dense band of ashy pubescence on the elytral apices, and lacks the pale ante-apical elytral markings of C. irazu .
