Specimens examined. 5 ♀, emerged in April 1971 from Picea abies View in CoL collected on 25 December 1970 from Martyr Worth, Hants, England ( BMNH) ; 1 ♀, emerged on 4 May 1959 from a seed of Picea glehnii View in CoL collected by K. Kamijo from Hokkaido, Japan ( HUM) .
Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido); Holarctic.
Host information. Torymus azureus is known as a parasitoid of Kaltenbachiola strobi (Winnertz) and Plemeliella abietina Seitner ( Diptera : Cecidomyiidae ) in Europe ( Graham & Gijswijt 1998). In Japan, this species parasitizes an unidentified species of Cecidomyiidae (Diptera) that induces galls on Picea glehnii (F. Schmidt) Mast. (Pinaceae) ( Grissell et al. 2004).
