Description:—Fruits (nutlets) 1.1–1.6x 0.9–1.1 mm, differed from L. europaeus L. (1753: 21) by a distinctive outgrowth of the spongy tissue at the apex of ventral side, not united with a margin and a peculiar glade at the base of back.
Type:—[fossil fruits] Samostrel’niki village, Hrodna region, Belarus (holotype, Dorofeev coll. s.n., Komarov Botanical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St.- Petersburg, Russian Federation)—figured by Dorofeev 1963: pl. 48, fig. 21.
Occurrence:—Pleistocene (Riss-Würm); Europe.
Eponymy:—From Pleistocene, a geological epoch and Lycopus europaeus L.
