Euproctis telephanes Collenette, 1939

( Figs. 19–20 View FIGURES 1 – 26 , 37 View FIGURES 35 – 40 , 49 View FIGURES 41 – 49 )

Euproctis telephanes Collenette, 1939: 335 ; Chao, 2003: 391.

Forewing yellow, with two pale yellow median lines, a black spot at upper angle of cell, scattered black scales at lower angle of cell to dorsum.Male genitalia ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ): Uncus triangular, valva broad, gradually narrowed toward cucullus, cucullus somewhat concave medially; saccus long, tongueshaped. Female genitalia ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 41 – 49 ): Papilla analis broad; apophysis anterioris longer than apophysis posterioris; ductus with L-shaped sclerotization at base; bursa with a transverse flange arising from a sclerotized signum.

Material examined. 13, Nanling National Nature Reserve, Guangdong, 25.III.2005; 23, same locality, 7.VIII.2009.

Distribution. China (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Fujian, Guangdong).

Remarks. The species is probably closely related to Euproctis yunnanpina due to similarity of genitalia features, but can be easily separated by the black discal spot in the forewing. Female genitalia are illustrated here for the first time.
