Type: — TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO. Trinidad, Irois Forest district under cacao trees in quantities, 25 January 1928, W. E. Broadway 6716 (holotype K-000363259! [ Figure 6 View FIGURE 6 in Hassemer 2017]).

Notes: —The protologue of Athyrocarpus pseudomonosperma ( Kuntze 1898: 319) provided the following information on the provenance of the species: “Mattogrosso im Sumpfwald bei Villa Maria”. I was able to locate only one original specimen (NY-247408— Figure 10 View FIGURE 10 ), which I designate here as lectotype. Morphology of the lectotype indicates that A. pseudomonosperma should be considered a synonym of C. rufipes . Here I am following the concept of C. rufipes as in Hunt (1994) and Grant et al. (2003), but including C. rufipes var. glabrata as per Hassemer (2017). Athyrocarpus pseudomonosperma has been referred to in the literature (e.g. Espejo-Serna & López-Ferrari 1995: 9) as a synonym of C. rufipes var. glabrata .
