Type: — HONDURAS. Tiger Island, Gulf of Fonseca, s.d., A. Sinclair s.n. (lectotype [designated by Hassemer 2018b: 17] K-000363260! [ Figure 3 in Hassemer 2018b]; isolectotype K-000363261!).

Type: — VENEZUELA. Aragua: prope coloniam Tovar [Colonia Tovar], 3000–3500 ft, 25 October 1854 – 25 January 1855, A. Fendler 1555 (lectotype [designated here] GH-00029569! [ Figure 8 ]).

= Phaeosphaerion efoveolatum var. repens Clarke (1881: 136–137)

Type: —COUNTRY UNKNOWN. S.d., Anonymous s.n. (holotype G-00301518!).

Notes: —The protologue of P.efoveolatum ( Clarke 1881: 136) provided the following information on original specimens: “ Venezuela, prope Tovar (Fendler n. 1555)”. I was able to locate only one original specimen (GH-00029569— Figure 8 ), which I designate here as lectotype. Here I am following the concept of C. leiocarpa as in Hunt (1994) and Grant et al. (2003).
