Holotype. Male. NEW GUINEA: West Sepik Pr. , 3.23S, 142.14E. Torricelli Mountains, Mokai Village, 750m, i.1.1959 ( BPBM). GoogleMaps
Diagnosis. Moderately large (10–11mm long); pronotum and MS reddish orange, MN brown medially, orange laterally; elytra black; most similar to Medeopteryx antennata , distinguished by the uniformly dark antennae, the nature of the posterior margin of V7 ( Ballantyne & McLean 1970 Fig. 14 View FIGURES 9–17 ), and its restricted distribution.
Remarks. This distinctive species is known only from the two specimens originally described and an additional specimen listed here.
