2. Orobanche cernua View in CoL L. in Loefling (1758: 152). Type:— SPAIN (lectotype designated by Foley 2001: 230): [Aranjuez (Madrid) supra radices Artemisiae campestris ], Loefling s.n. (LINN 798.6). Heterotypic synonyms:— O. gallica Grenier (1838 ‒39: 144); O. hispanica Boissier (1841: 476) ; O. cernua f. desertorum Beck (1890: 142) . Fig. 33B View FIGURE 33 .

Distribution: —Central and southern (Kotayk, Yerevan, Ararat, Vayots Dzor provinces), rarely in southeastern parts (Syunik province) ( Fig. 35 View FIGURE 35 ).

General distribution: —Mainly the Mediterranean Basin, southwestern and central Asia to China. Also in North Africa, South Asia and Australia ( O. cernua var. australiana (F. Muell.) Beck (1930: 128)) .

Habitat: —Rocky, sandy slopes, dry hills, steppe, semi-deserts.

Hosts: — Artemisia sp. , e.g. A. fragrans Willd. ( Asteraceae ).

Phenology:—Flowering May–June (July), fruiting (June) July–August.

Conservation status: —Least Concern (LC). The species has rather wide distribution in Armenia (4 floristic regions). Populations are usually small, from a few to 10 individuals, rarely ca. 30.
