Subspecies Tupaia nicobarica subsp. surda Miller 1902

Distribution: Great and Little Nicobar Isls ( India).

Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Endangered.

Discussion: A distinctive species with two slightly-differentiated subspecies. Part of the small assemblage of mammal species endemic to the Nicobar Isls that also includes Pteropus faunulus, Rattus palmarum and Crocidura nicobarica .
