Diagnosis. The following combination of characters distinguishes this genus from other Ipini genera: frons broadly convex; epistoma medially emarginate, margin lined with small tubercles sometimes including a larger median tubercle; central shining fovea present except for P. yak ; antennal club with sutures strongly procurved, suture 1 reaching the middle of club; declivity steep, subapical margin weakly explanate; lateral margins armed with three pairs of denticles; first denticle small, in line with stria 2; second denticle larger than first, in line with stria 3; third denticle largest, cylindrical, subcapitate, in line with fifth stria (denticles of P. orientalis and P. yak broadly conical, third not subcapitate); egg galleries, in part, arcuate.
