Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Mutilla frigidula Cresson, 1902 (female), by original designation (junior subjective synonym of Mutilla simulatrix Smith, 1879 (female), according to Cambra et al., 2016: 396).

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species was described by Bartholomay et al., 2015: 52.
