Type species. Mutilla chiesi Spinola, 1839 (female), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species was associated and described by A. Costa 1887: 108, tab. 3, fig. 13 and redescribed by Turrisi et al. 2015: 41.

Distribution. Palaearctic.
