Residual syntypes: — INDIA. Anamallays [Anamalai], 7000 ft., 1870, Beddome s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7777) ; Without precise locality, 1873, Beddome s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7779) .
Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).
Notes:— Beddome (1859), while describing Impatiens parvifolia mentioned only locality Anamalai hills. Two herbarium specimens collected by Beddome from Anamalai hills are extant for this species, one each at K (K000683311) and MH (Accession no. 7780). The specimen K000683311, is chosen here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having dissected flower parts pasted on the sheet by Beddome.
J.D. Hooker (1906) described Impatiens omissa based on the specimens collected from southern Western Ghats by Beddome. Pertaining to the type specification given in protologue, four specimens collected by Beddome from southern Western Ghats, Travancore hill ranges with J.D. Hooker’s annotation ‘ I. omissa HK. f. ’ were traced, one at K (K000683310) and three at MH (Accession no. 7776, 7777 and 7779). Of these, the better preserved specimen, MH (Accession no. 7776), is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having drawing of floral parts on the sheet by J.D. Hooker. The specimen K000683310 is a part of MH (Accession no. 7776) herbarium sheet, clarified from the notes written on these sheets by J.D. Hooker.
